MindBody syndrome, the FIRST STEP to heal chronic pain (TMS)
So you have come to this point right now where you acknowledge and accept that TMS could be the cause of your chronic pain. And now you’re wondering, now what?! What is now my first step to heal from TMS MindBody chronic pain? What do I do now to start this healing? And that is exactly what I’m going to talk with you about in this blog about how to heal chronic pain (TMS).
How to heal chronic pain (TMS)
The very first thing that you want to be doing, that is you have to fully believe that TMS is the cause of your chronic pain. You have to fully believe it.
And, more importantly actually, you have to show in your daily thoughts, in your daily emotions, in your daily habits and in your daily actions that you fully believe it.
Because some people say “yeah I believe it”, but then later that day they are wondering if they can go to the gym because maybe it will make their pain worse.
But that’s not the thinking you want to be doing, if you fully believe it, right? Somebody who would fully believe it, who would 100% believe that their pain is due to TMS would not even question that. They would go. They would go to the gym, without a question.
How to change your state of being.
So that’s what you really want to be aware of during your day, of how you are thinking, the actions that you are taking, the habits that you are having, the emotions that you are feeling.
For example, if you’ve been in chronic pain for a long time, you maybe have not been feeling very happy. You maybe have been feeling frustrated, you maybe have been feeling angry, you maybe have been feeling sad.
If you are completely fine, if your body is completely fine, there is no reason to feel like that, other than that the pain ofcourse is still there. But your body is completely healthy. So you don’t have to feel sad anymore. You can feel super happy.
And somebody who is painfree does feel super happy, right?
So that is how you already want to start feeling, cause if you don’t, then you’re just telling your brain that you still believe that there’s physically something wrong with you.
How to strengthen your belief in TMS
You really have to fully, on all levels, show your brain, that you fully believe it that it’s TMS. Because your brain is the one that you have to convince. Your brain is the one that you have to convince that you believe it.
Because as soon as the brain understands that you fully believe it, that you 100% believe it, then the brain has no reason anymore to divert your attention, to bring your focus on the body instead of on your emotions, because then the brain thinks ‘oh now you understand it, so what’s even the point of doing this then’.
So you have to convince your brain that you fully believe it. On everything that you do during the day, you have to convince your brain. With your emotions, with your thoughts, with your habits, with your actions, everything.
If you’re not doing that, you’re just telling your brain, by doing something else, you’re just telling your brain that you not fully believe yet that nothing is wrong with your physical body.
And as long as you make your brain think that you still think that there is something wrong with your physical body, your brain has still the possibility to divert your pain to the body, because it thinks ‘oh you still think there’s something wrong with the physical body so I can still divert the pain there’.
But that’s what you want to stop, right?
Stop the pain diversion strategy
You want to stop this pain diversion to the body. So, then you have to convince the brain that you believe it, that it’s just the emotions.
That’s really important. So be aware of everything that you do during the day, your thoughts, your emotions, your habits, your actions, be aware of them, during the day. Just observe yourself, that’s really important. Observe everything that you do. And if you notice that you’re doing something that somebody who is completely physically fine would not do. Or anything that would contradict your belief of ‘I belief that my pain is due to TMS’, you want to change those things.
And maybe in the beginning you’re having trouble with this, that’s okay. Just keep observing it and change it where you can. Change your habits, thoughts and emotions where you can, when you observe it, just change it. Change it, so that it matches your new belief of ‘my pain is due to TMS’. That’s where you want to change it to. You want to have it matching with that belief. Because if your belief is not in line with what you’re doing during the day, then it’s not working.
The decision you have to make to heal chronic pain (TMS).
And you have to choose too. That’s another point. You have to choose. You can’t say for example ‘oh I believe my back pain is due to TMS, but I also think it’s physical’. You cannot do both. You have to make a decision. So you’re either choosing now that you believe that it’s TMS, that your pain is due to emotions in the unconscious mind. Or you say I believe there’s something physically wrong with me. You have to choose. You cannot do both. Because if you choose the TMS side, then you have to let go of the physical side. And if you feel like you cannot do that, then you have to ask yourself ‘what is the reason that I cannot let go of this physical side?’.
Maybe you haven’t done all the testing yet. Maybe for your feeling you still feel like you need to do some testing. Or maybe, some people just have to go through a period of trying every method and then after that they realize that nothing is working and that it might be TMS. Some people just really have to go through that first.
I’m trying to avoid that for you, because I have been through all of that, I have personally been through all of that.
And I want to avoid for you having to go through that also, for years and years and years. And trying to do everything and nothing that is working. I’m trying to avoid that for you. That’s why I’m writing these blogs for you, to avoid that you have to go through all of that, that you can make that decision now, to choose for TMS.
Do what is needed for YOU to heal
So but yeah maybe you feel like you need that, maybe you feel like you do need to try all these methods for years and years. And put all this time and energy and money into all these different methods. And getting frustrated and sad because nothing is working. Maybe you need that. In order for you to start believing that TMS might be the cause. That’s different for everybody.
But, you have to make a choice either way.
So you either choose for the TMS or you choose for the physical side.
If you choose for the physical side, that’s fine, but then focus on that. Go focus on that, go do the things that you feel like you need to be doing, go do your exercises that you feel like you need to be doing to fix this pain. Go to your therapist that you feel like you need to be going to. Do your tests that you feel like you need to be doing. Do everything physical that you feel like you need to be doing.
And then at the end of the road, I hope that you either are healed or that you find out that it might be TMS and that you come back to the TMS side.
And if you do decide to choose for the TMS side, then choose it for 100%. Completely let go of the physical, only focus on the TMS then.
Because, you cannot do both like I said.
Why am I not healing from TMS?
If you choose both, then it’s not working, if you still think that there’s physically something wrong, then the brain still has all the reasons to divert the pain to your body, to your physical body. So choose. Choose for the physical or choose for the TMS. That’s most important actually. And then if you choose either one of these, you have to believe it for 100% to work. That’s even for the physical, even if you choose for the physical you have to fully believe it for 100% that it works. And that’s the same for TMS. You have to fully believe it that you can heal from this. Because otherwise it’s not going to work. You have to fully believe that this is the cause of your pain.
So yeah, if you choose for the TMS side then it’s important that you fully believe that it’s TMS and that there’s physically nothing wrong. And if there’s physically nothing wrong, there is no reason to not be doing physical activities. Other then that it’s hurting. But you know now that this hurting is not due to damage in your body. So it’s okay to work out. It’s okay to work out with this pain. It’s okay to do things with this pain. It’s okay to lift heavy things with this pain. Because there’s structurally no damage in your body. So you want to be doing these things again like it’s the most normal thing for you to do. You know that this pain is just a diversion strategy from the brain.
How to let the unconscious emotions come up to the conscious.
Every time when the brain is creating this pain for you, a good thing that you can do is every time your brain does this, every time you feel this pain, you can tell your brain; it is safe for me to feel my uncomfortable emotions. Because the brain thinks they are not safe for you, right? That’s why it’s trying to put them back in the unconscious mind.
So that’s really important that you can do this, to tell your brain that it’s safe. It’s safe for you to feel these uncomfortable emotions. Because if you do this, the more often you tell your brain this, the more easily the brain is going to let go of the emotions. It will not be putting it back anymore in the unconscious mind. But you have to repeat it. You have to convince your brain that it’s safe now. Because you repressed this emotion once because it wasn’t at that moment safe for you to feel them and to express them.
So the brain still thinks it’s not safe. So you have to convince your brain that it’s safe now, that you are ready now to feel this emotion and to express it. You want to release it by feeling these emotions and by expressing them. That’s how you release them. So you have to convince your brain that it’s safe now to feel them.
So that is an important thing that you can do during the day, every time when you feel these symptoms coming up, you can tell this to your brain, that it’s safe for you to feel these emotions.
How to take back the control over your mind
Another thing that you can tell your brain is that you know what is going on. Tell your brain ‘I know what you are doing, I know you’re just trying to divert my attention from my emotions, I know my physical body is healthy, you don’t have to protect me anymore’.
Tell your brain that you know that it’s TMS. Tell your brain that you know the strategy that it’s doing now. Tell your brain that it’s safe now, that you understand what it’s doing, that it’s not necessary anymore. You can even thank your brain. You can even thank your brain ‘thank you for protecting me all this time, for these uncomfortable emotions, I really appreciate it, but it’s not necessary anymore. Cause I can handle it now. I’m ready for them. I’m ready to feel them and I’m ready to express them’.
Just, it’s important to convince your brain of all of this. Your brain just often needs a little bit more time. That’s why you have to keep repeating it to your brain. It’s like when you were back in school and for example you got into detention and you had to write down this sentence. Maybe a hundred times or something. Just so that it would be programmed into your mind. You would have to write for example ‘I will not put any gum anymore on the teachers chair’. You had to write it for detention maybe like a hundred times. Just to program it in your mind that you will not do it anymore.
And that is kind of the same with this TMS thing, you have to reprogram your mind to believe that it’s TMS. You have to convince your brain of this.
You have to reprogram yourself. So keep reminding your brain.
How to convince your brain.
Another really good way to do this is by, if you have read the MindBody book for example from Dr. John Sarno, if you have read it once, read it more times. As often as you want. I mean the more often you read it, the better, because the more often you read it the more convinced your brain becomes of this. So read it more than once. Summary of how to heal from TMS MindBody chronic pain
So yes, these are very important. The believing is the most important. And going fully for it. Choosing which side you are choosing. Are you choosing TMS or are you choosing the physical? And then the one that you choose, you have to fully believe it. And convince your brain of it.
Whatever you choose, convince your brain that that is the one. That that is the reason for your pain. And that is the reason why you’re going to heal. Because that is the reason and that is your key to healing.
You have to convince your brain of this. And show this, in everything that you think and do and feel. Show this, to your brain, in every action you take, in every feeling you feel, in every thought you have. Because if you don’t, then your brain is not convinced. The brain is the one you are trying to convince.
What if nothing is working to heal from your TMS MindBody chronic pain?
I know there are some people who are trying this already and they are frustrated because it’s not working. Because they see other people who are reading this book The MindBody Prescription or any other TMS book and they are immediately healed. They just read the book and they are healed. And there’s many people with whom that happened. And some other people they are like ‘well why doesn’t this happen to me and what am I doing wrong, why am I not healing? I’m trying this and this and this. And I’m writing my emotions down and everything, but it’s not working for me. Why am I not healing? Why are other people healing so fast?’
